Gode Robert Hunt of Sleipnir V’e, Albury, began learning of Stáv through his stepfather, Gode Neil, in 1997. Neil had recently begun studying under Gode Anthony after meeting him at a festival in NSW. Studying Social Work at Deakin University, Robert then trained in Shaolin Kung Fu under Master Prianta ‘Cheetah’ Wickramaseena. In early 1998 Robert moved back to his home town of Walwa, Victoria, studying by correspondence and working at a local holiday resort. Impressed with Stáv as a weapons based martial art he invited Cheetah to the farm to train with them. Recognising the effective martial potential in the art and the value of a system rooted in one’s own culture, with Cheetah’s consent, Robert began studying himself under Neil. Robert continued to study Stáv under Neil until moving to Canberra in 2001. Over the next ten years Robert worked in Canberra, Melbourne, Wodonga and Walwa. Working in landscaping, defence security, agriculture and demolition he continued studying and applying the principles of Stáv to life. In 2006 he was granted his own V’e, Sleipnir V’e, and began teaching some friends and colleagues. At present Robert lives in Albury and works in demolition.
Situated in a grassy valley close to town, Sleipnir V’e has a comfortable and appropriate environment for the practice of the stances and discussion of the mythology. Classes are offered on a regular basis and some Mött and Galdr work is available by prior arrangement.
